How to close token accounts on Solana (and get your SOL back)
Every token you trade on Solana opens a token account that holds about 0.002 SOL of rent. Here is how to close the empty ones safely and get that SOL back.
What is a token account?
On Solana your wallet does not hold tokens directly. For every token you receive, a separate token account is created and funded with about 0.002 SOL of rent, so the network keeps it alive. That SOL belongs to you, but it stays locked inside the account.
Why do empty accounts stay open?
When you sell or send all of a token, the balance goes to zero but the account is not closed automatically. Active traders end up with hundreds of empty accounts, which means tenths of a SOL or more just sitting there.
How to close them
Closing an account is a standard Solana instruction (CloseAccount): the account is removed and its rent goes back to the owner. With Claim Sol you paste your address, see how many empty accounts you have and how much SOL they hold, then connect your wallet and close them all with one approval.
Is it safe?
Closing an empty account does not touch your tokens and needs no token approval: only the rent moves, back to your own wallet. Claim Sol simulates every transaction before you sign it and the code that builds them is open source. Big claims use our close_many program, which can only close accounts you own and is a verified build on Solscan.
How much will I get back?
About 0.002 SOL per empty account, minus our service fee shown before you sign. 100 empty accounts are roughly 0.2 SOL.
๐งน How much SOL is stuck in your wallet?
Free check, no connection needed.
FAQ
Do I lose my tokens?
No. Only accounts with a zero balance are closed. Leftover tokens are never touched unless you choose to sell or burn them.
Can I close accounts with 0 SOL in my wallet?
Yes. If your wallet can't pay the network fee, Claim Sol pays it for you and takes a slightly higher fee from the SOL you get back.
